Teresa M. Calheta

New Bedford – Teresa (Medeiros) Calheta, age 63, of New Bedford, MA passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Antonio M. Calheta.

Teresa was born in Vila Franca do Campo, São Miguel, Azores and was the daughter of Virginia (Rebelo) Medeiros and the late Humberto Medeiros. She had been a loving homemaker to her family over the years.

She loved attending church and her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. She loved baking, drinking hot lattes and watching scary movies. Teresa also loved the beach and nature, especially flowers. She loved fashion, listening to music and reading.

Most importantly and above all, Teresa enjoyed spending time with her children. She had an amazing laugh and kind heart. She was the heart and soul of her family and she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Antonio M. Calheta; her children, Sonia Calheta and Monica Calheta; her brothers, João Medeiros, Paul Medeiros, Rui Medeiros, Jose Medeiros and Orlando Medeiros; her sister, Maria G. Johnson; one niece, Jessie Medeiros and two nephews, Sean Johnson and Nathan Johnson.
