Teofilo M. Braga

Wareham – Teofilo M. Braga, age 76, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Tobey Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Jesus (Santos) Braga.

Teofilo was born in St. Michael, Azores to the late Virginio Braga Matos and Maria (Medeiros) Matos. He had been a landscaper for Buzzards Bay Landscaping and had also been a fisherman in Portugal as well as in this area. Teofilo was an avid soccer fan and loved to watch the games, Benfica had been his favorite team.

Teofilo is survived by his sons, Paulo Braga and his fiancé Dawn Welshman, Miguel Braga and Teofilo Braga and his wife Carla Braga; his daughters, Elizabeth Blanchette and her husband Tony Blanchette and Anna Braga and her partner Andrea Newsham; grandchildren, Brittany, Cody, Jaleasa, Sully, Jasmine, Julia, Madison and Catarina; as well as his great-grandchildren, Justin, Viviana, Mila, Marianna and Isaiah. He was also survived by his siblings, Ricardo Matos, David Matos, Steve Matos and Ana Raposo.

Teofilo’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA.
