Stanley A. Wulf

August 14, 1943 — November 13, 2023

Mr. Stanley A. Wulf of Framingham, MA, and South Dartmouth, MA, passed away on November 13, 2023, of a cardiac arrest.

Stan was born in 1943 to Arthur and Dena (Huisenga) Wulf in Adrian, MN. He grew up in the small town of Wilmont, MN, where his father was the mayor, and his mother owned the local general store.  Stan was raised surrounded by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and multiple cousins with whom he still enjoyed the biannual cousins’ reunions.

Stan was a member of the MIT class of 1965, having arrived in the big city of Boston from his rural home in Montana. His incredible friendship to his new home and brothers of Phi Delta Theta fraternity was manifested through constant attention to the needs and fellowship of others in the MIT community.

Stan graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Course II). When attending MIT as a freshman, Stan found significant value from joining Phi Delta Theta, a leading fraternity centered on the potential of each brother and the lifelong value of friendship, sound learning, and rectitude.  It was his freshman year experience with Phi Delta Theta that helped Stan commit to serving the members of the fraternity from 2002 until his passing in 2023. Stan served the house in 1961, as House Manager and then went on in later life to serve as the Chapter Advisor to all the Brothers.

Stan’s sports included Varsity Wrestling and Varsity Crew.

After graduating from M.I.T. in 1965, Stan studied Material Sciences at the doctoral level at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Desiring to return to Massachusetts, Stan secured an engineering position at the former Brewer Engineering Company (now Teledyne) in Marion, Massachusetts. Continuing his interests in test and measurements, load cell, sensors, and strain gauges, Stan was the Mid-Atlantic Regional Sales Manager for HBM. While Stan worked in sales at the industrial weighing and inspection technologies with Minebea, he identified ways to increase the reliability, safety, and efficiency of customer production processes.

In 1983, Stan married Sharon Ann of South Dartmouth, MA, and together they co-founded Enterprise Systems, a new product testing and training company in Framingham, MA. Stan enjoyed traveling to Germany, Portugal, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, and many other international and domestic destinations, experiencing a wide variety of cultures.

Since 2002, Stan has been the President and Treasurer of Incorporate Alumni of Psi Delta. Stan served as Province President from 1999-2011 for Phi Delta Theta, receiving the Leadership and Service Award.

In 2021-2022, Stan was honored as the Samuel V. Stone Chapter Adviser of the Year from the National Association of Phi Delta Theta in recognition of his outstanding service as House Advisor to the fraternity at Massachusetts Institute of Massachusetts. With Stan as Chapter Advisor and President of the Chapter Corporation, the house is standing taller and stronger than ever in its history.

Stan also served on the Board of the Association of Independent Living Group, serving in the role of Vice President for four years and ombudsman. Known for mentoring Phi Delta Theta students, he willingly shared his experience with members of fraternities and sororities within the MIT Community.

Stan is a member of the MIT Alumni Cardinal & Gray Society, Harvard Club of Boston, and the Wamsutta Club. In 2015, he received a Red Jacket when he celebrated his 50th year reunion from MIT. MIT friends who attended MIT events, Harvard Club of Boston, and Wamsutta Club events remembered Stan wearing his Red Jacket with enthusiasm.

Stan was predeceased by his parents, his older brother Donald, his younger brothers Robert and Darwin. Stan is survived by his wife and life partner of 40 years Sharon Ann Wulf, Ph.D., his younger sister Nadine Kuhlemeier of Minnesota, his sister-in-law Ellen Wulf of California, three nephews and their wives, and four great-nephews.  Stan will be remembered by hundreds of Phi Delta Theta members who were mentored and encouraged through his dedication to their individual growth and development.

Stan will be remembered fondly by all who met him as one of our best examples of honest and dedicated citizenship to the Nation.

Burial was held privately on November 17, 2023.
