Shirley (Souza) Garcia

Fall River – Shirley (Souza) Garcia, age 80, of Fall River, MA passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023 at St. Anne’s Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Leno Donald Garcia.

Shirley was born in New Bedford, MA and was the daughter of the late Joseph Souza and Philomena (Brown) Souza. She had worked at Delken Dry Cleaners for many years.

Shirley had been an avid card player and she loved spending time with her sister-in-laws, playing cards for hours on end. She loved a good novel, and shared her love of reading with her daughters. Shirley was ecstatic at the birth of her grandson, Christian. She enjoyed countless hours playing with him, reading to him and cuddling him while he was wrapped in her arms. She loved joking with her grandson, Anthony and the two were always making each other laugh. Shirley’s love for shopping was evident in the hours she spent shopping with her girls.

Shirley is survived by her husband Leno Garcia; her two daughters, Heidi Mello and Wendy Pavao and their spouses Richard Mello and David Pavao; her stepdaughter, Kim Robillard and her spouse David Robillard; her grandchildren, Christian Mello, Anthony Mello, Sydney Mello, Carolyn Robillard, and David Robillard; a great-grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Shirley’s visiting hours will be held on Friday morning, September 1, 2023 from 9:30 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Mt. Carmel Church at 11:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
