Scott A. Ponte

New Bedford - Scott A. Ponte “Spunky”,56, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on April 3rd at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was a beloved husband to Robyn Marshall Ponte and a devoted father to his sons, Garrett Marshall Ponte of Providence, RI, Cameron Ponte of New Bedford, and Devin Ponte of New Bedford and his fiancé, Jennifer Benevides, as well as his adopted daughter, Patricia Fonseca of New Bedford. He was also a cherished grandfather to Emersyn Ponte and her brother, Liam Durden.

Scott is survived by his father-in-law, Dennis Marshall, and his siblings, George Ponte, Laurie Ponte, Tammy Demarais and her husband Paul, and Kaylin Horvath and her husband James.

Scott will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and sense of humor. To him, a stranger was simply a friend he hadn’t met yet. When not at family gatherings, on vacation, or enjoying drinks with friends, he could often be found in the woods searching for his golf ball.

A respected and well-loved employee of Cape Cod Express, Scott was always willing to lend a hand. His warmth, generosity, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Scott’s visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Perry Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. His funeral will take place on Tuesday, beginning in the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. with a service to be held at 12:00 P.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John Cemetery.
