Robert P. Soares

New Bedford – Robert P. Soares, age 67, of New Bedford, MA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 21, 2024. 

Robert was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Antonio Pacheco Soares and Rita Lillian (Fernandez) Soares. He had worked as a roofer for many years up until his retirement. 

He loved his family and the time they spent together. He also loved the Bruins, Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys. His favorite group/band had been The Beatles and his favorite song was Imagine by John Lennon. He also greatly enjoyed long conversations and rides with his buddy, Keith Lourenco.

Robert is survived by his 2 daughters (his pumpkins), Candi Lynn Soares and Suzanne Marie Soares; his son, Ian Robert Soares; his grandchildren, Michael Ferreira Jr., Jazlynn Westgate, Khloe DaSilva, Ellie Westgate and Avery Soares; his sisters, (Dearly loved by) Laura Santos and Barbara Watkinson; his brother, Antonio Pacheco Soares Jr.; as well as Rhonda McGowen, his companion and his lifelong friend John Duggan. 

He is also survived by close nieces, Trisha Souza and her spouse Matt and Tara Rosa; he was the great-uncle of: the late Matthew Souza, that he loved dearly, Korey Souza, Kaysie Souza and Myles Rosa; the great-great uncle of Jadyn Souza and Makayla Souza, who is also his godchild. 

He was also the companion of his deceased girlfriend of many years, Maryann Lourenco, that he loved dearly.

Robert’s visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Cremation to follow.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA.
