Robert Sibbald

d. November 10, 2023

Robert B. Sibbald (age 72) of New Bedford, MA died peacefully at home from the complications

of Lewy Body Disease on Friday, November 10, 2023. Bob was born in Quincy, MA to the late

Thomas A. Sibbald and Ruth N. (Pratt) Sibbald.

He was the beloved husband of Joanne Keegan for 39 years; the beloved father of Thomas

(Claudia) Sibbald of Darien, CT, Daniel Sibbald of Ossipee, NH, and Ian Sibbald of New

Bedford, MA. Bob was also the loving grandfather of Alexandra and Catherine Sibbald of

Darien, CT. He leaves behind his cherished sister Pamela (Donald) Murphy of Braintree, MA

and a large and loving family of in-laws, nephews and nieces, and cousins.

Bob was a proud graduate of Braintree High School, Class of 1969. He was employed as a

machinist at the Pneumatic Scale Corporation of Quincy, MA until the plant closed in 1989. Bob

continued his career as a mechanic for the United States Postal Service at the facility in South

Boston until his retirement in 2019.

Bob was the consummate family man and took pleasure in the sporting, Sea Cadet, and Boy

Scout activities of his three sons. His sons never suffered a dull hockey skate nor lacked

transportation and support to their far-flung activities. Bob was also an active amateur radio

operator under the call sign WA1TPC. He enjoyed participating in radio field days and public

service projects. Bob’s favorite place on earth was Prince Edward Island, Canada and he took

his family on many homecoming vacations there, visiting his relatives.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service which will be held on Tuesday,

December 5 at 11AM at the First Church in Weymouth, 17 Church St. Weymouth, MA.
