Richard DeSousa, 54, of Dartmouth, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, papa, and friend, whose loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him. 

Born on July 7, 1970, in New Bedford, Richard moved to Dartmouth during his childhood, where he spent most of his life. He graduated from high school and went on to build a lifelong career in the seafood industry, where he was known for his unwavering dedication, hard work, and passion for helping others. 

Above all, Richard was a devoted family man. He cherished his time with his grandchildren and will always be remembered as someone who would do anything for the people he loved. Family was Richard’s greatest gift. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy DeSousa; his children and their spouses, Jasmine Medeiros and Raymond Rodrigues, Nicole and Jordan Ponte; his grandchildren, Aubrey, Grace, Averie, Gabriella, Lucas, Gemma; as well as many nieces and nephews; his parents, Joao and Neilce Sousa and his sister and brother-in-law Rosanna and Terrance Toddman. 

His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Richards' visiting hours with his cremains present will be held at Perry's Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, Ma on Saturday December 28, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. with a service to take place during that time. 

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
