New Bedford – Ralph A. Reed, age 82, of New Bedford passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Leonora (Gonsalves) Reed.
Ralph was born in Fairhaven, MA and was the beloved son of the late Leonard Reed and Ruth E. (Lackie) Reed. He had been a cook for Mass Maritime and later went on to work at Alliance Cable for many years. He loved fishing, cooking, music and he especially loved spending time with his family.
Ralph is survived by his daughters, Rhonda-Lee Amaral and her husband John and Tammy DaSilva and her husband Moses; grandchildren, Meagan-Lee Amaral, John Amaral, Jacob DaSilva and Nicholas DaSilva; his siblings, John “Butch” Reed and Jorge Reed; several loving sister in-laws and brother in-laws; as well as nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his 2 dearest friends, Marcel “Frenchie” Latullip and Francisco DeFreitas III.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his dearest niece, Eva Maciel.
He was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Ralph’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place on Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
