Maria Ines Sousa

Connecticut – Maria Ines (Favela) Sousa, age 84, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Bristol Hospital in Connecticut with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Evaristo A. de Sousa.

Maria was born in Água de Pau, St. Michael, Azores to the late Jose Inacio Favela and Angelina Reis. She had been a seamstress at Cliftex Corp. for 30 years.

Maria is survived by her 3 daughters, Maria Manuela Knight and her husband Dale, Sandra Chatelle and her husband Christopher and Debra Sousa; 6 grandchildren, Joseph Knight and Julia Knight, Emily, Abigail, Katelyn and Jennifer Chatelle; her sisters, Conceicao Sousa and Eduarda Torres; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her late sister, Angelina Vieira.

Maria’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church would be greatly appreciated.
