Maria J. Medeiros

New Bedford – Maria J. (Almeida) Medeiros, age 86, of Dartmouth, MA passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Serafim Medeiros.

She was born in Sao Miguel, Azores and was the daughter of the late Daniel Almeida and Emilia (DaSilva) Almeida. Over the years, she had worked as a machine operator and line worker but most of her life was spent as a loving homemaker to her family. She loved spending time in her garden and taking great care of her home. She enjoyed Sunday rides with her husband and also enjoyed spending time with her farm animals.

Maria is survived her husband, Serafim Medeiros; her children, Goretti Medeiros of Westport, Nellie Costa-Andrade of New Bedford and Jose D. Medeiros of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Danny Victoria, Derrick Costa, Tiffany Victoria, Brittany Costa, Shaundi-Rose Gonsalves and Lawrence Andrade; 1 great-grandchild, Natalie Victoria-Arruda. She is also survived by her siblings, Jose Almeida, Gilda Gonsalves, Joao Almeida, Manuel Almeida, Gilbert Almeida, Ana Isabel Almeida and Natalia Guilherme.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Perry Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
