Maria G. Branco

New Bedford – Maria G. (Silveira) Branco, age 91, of New Bedford passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio P. Branco.

Maria was born in Faial, Azores to the late Francisco Silveira and Filomena (Goulart) Silveira. She had worked for Cornell Dubilier for many years, and later worked as a personal care assistant. Maria had the biggest heart, and was always there for her family. She was a hard working and conscientious person who loved cooking, hosting family holiday gatherings, gardening, watching Benfica and novelas, and attending Portuguese feasts.

Maria's family includes her daughters, Luisa Rodrigues and her late husband Filipe, Anna Iria and her husband Alvaro; her grandchildren, Lori DaSilva and her husband Scott, Lisa Vargas and her husband Carlos, and Shayna Iria; her great-grandson Evan DaSilva and her sister Anna Pereira. She was predeceased by her brother Jose Silveira.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening, October 5, 2023 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Friday, beginning in the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
