Maria Adelaide Couto

Boston – Maria Adelaide (daFonte) Couto, age 75, of New Bedford, Ma passed away on Thursday February 27, 2025 at Beth Irael Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Jose M. Couto of New Bedford, Ma.

She was born in Pico, Azores and was the daughter of the late Georgina (Abreu) daFonte and Guilherme daFonte. She worked at Paul Modes as a Stitcher.

Maria is survived her husband, Jose, her siblings Norberta Evangelho, Maria daFonte, Margarida Sequeira and Odilia Sequeira, 2 nephews Steven Evangelho and Joe Sequeira.

Maria’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 11:30 A.M. Everyone is asked to meet directly at Church. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
