Lydia Jacintho

Lydia Jacintho passed peacefully from this life onto the next on January 18, 2024.  She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Fernandes.  She was a graduate of New Bedford High School as well as the Kinyon-Campbell Business School.  She managed the accounts for the family business Perfection Brands prior to fulfilling a lifelong career helping people find work for the Massachusetts Department of Employment Security.

Lydia was blessed with a happy marriage of 67 years to the late Charles Jacintho.  Together they enjoyed travelling, playing cards and waltzing.  She was known as an avid reader, master knitter and crocheter.   However the essence of her being was her unwavering love for her family.  She will be remembered  as a celebrated mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.  

She is survived by daughters Debra Anne Lambalot, Corbina Maria Foucart and husband Bruce, grandchildren Melissa Greenberg, Jeremy Lambalot, Corbin and Abigail Foucart and great grandchildren Ellah and Elijah.  Lydia also leaves behind sister, Odelia Cardoza, sister-in-law, Judith Fernandes, and many nieces, nephews and their families.  She is predeceased by her siblings Elvira, Antonio Jr. and John Fernandes.  She will be dearly missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Her funeral service will be held Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Cremation to follow.

Donations can be made in her name to Community Nurse Home Care, 62 Center St., Fairhaven, Ma 02719.  

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA.
