Dartmouth - Laura P. Vieira, age 97, of Dartmouth, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Vieira. She was born in Dartmouth and was the oldest of 3 daughters to the late Mary (Mello) Pacheco.
She worked at the Otis Air Force Base in the personnel department for over 32 years. During her retirement, she traveled the world! She and Joe went on many trips and cruises, traveling all over the US, the Caribbean and beyond. She even went on an Alaskan cruise with her late sister, Hilda (Pacheco) Viera and a Hawaiian vacation with her “baby sister”, Nancy Vital. Laura spent her later years at The Cottages of Dartmouth Village, where she enjoyed bingo, live entertainment and was loved for her spitfire personality!
Laura is survived by her sister, Nancy Vital; her nephew, Derek Vital and his wife Kerrin; her great nephew, Connor; her daughter Susan Brunelle, and her grandsons, Matthew Patenaude and Jason Patenaude and Jason’s wife, Stephanie; her great-grandchildren, Eva, Mia, Miles and Marcus; and several other nieces and nephews.
Laura’s family would like to personally thank the staff at the Dartmouth Cottages and New England Hospice for the love and care they gave to Laura. They treated her like she was family and for that, we are truly grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New England Hospice 190 Old Derby St Suite 304 Hingham, MA 02043.
Her visiting hours and funeral services will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial will follow in Mass National Cemetery in Bourne.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
