Jose Pereira

New Bedford – Jose "Orlando" Azevedo Pereira, age 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. Lukes Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was the loving husband of Manuela (Palma) Pereira.

Jose was born in Valença do Douro, Portugal to Adolfo Pereira de Quieroz, and Magna (de Azevedo) Vaz. He worked as a carpet installer for 25 plus years with Furniture City and then Four Seasons Carpet Installers Inc before retiring.  He loved going fishing, watching his favorite soccer team FC Porto, reading news and history on his computer, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Jose is survived by his wife Manuela (Palma) Pereira; his daughter Magna Pacheco, and her husband Ozzy; his son Adolfo Pereira; and his beloved grandchildren Kendall Pacheco, Calista Pacheco, and Nathan Page.  He also leaves behind his sister Maria Jesus Dias, Antonio Pereira and Felisberto Pereira as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jose was predeceased by his loving daughter Sandra Pereira.  

Jose’s Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at the church. There will be no Cemetery service after Church.
