Jose Moreira Oliveira

New Bedford – Jose Moreira Oliveira, age 78, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria Fernanda (DeMelo) Oliveira of New Bedford. 

Jose was born in Lomba da Sao Pedro, Sao Miguel, Azores to the late Maria Isabel (Moreira) and the late Joao Oliveira. He had worked as a machinist for Quaker fabrics for many years. Jose enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, cooking, eating ice cream and especially spending time with his family.

Jose is survived by his sons, Zebby Oliveira and Bobby Oliveira and his wife Christine; his grandchildren, Mason Oliveira, Ashlie Spratt, Kendra Oliveira, Cody Oliveira and Nathan Oliveira; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 godchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Lenny Oliveira and brother of the late Manuel Joaquim Oliveira. 

His visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Friday, November 15 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place on Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow at Rural Cemetery.
