Jose G. Moniz

New Bedford – Jose G. Moniz, age 45, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. 

Jose was born in Agua de Pau, Sao Miguel, Azores and was the son of Virginio Moniz and Conceicao (Paulos) Moniz. He had worked as a roofer for Silva Roofing for 20 plus years. He loved spending time with his nieces, nephews and stepchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Jose is survived by his parents, Virginio and Conceicao Moniz; his companion, Jessica M. Vieira; his step-children, R.J. Vieira and Alexis Santo; his siblings, Lucy Moniz, John Moniz and Jason Moniz; nieces and nephews, Caitlin Pacheco, Chloe Pacheco and Carter Pires; his godparents, Noberto and Lucilia Moniz; uncle and aunt, Jose Moniz and his wife Maria and uncles, Armando Moniz, Victor Moniz and John Moniz; as well as several cousins and several friends.

Jose’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place on Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
