Dartmouth – Jose "Joe" Oliveira, age 70, of Dartmouth, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Sharon A. (Simpkin) Oliveira, with whom he just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May.
Joe was born in St. Michael, Azores, and was the son of the late Ernesto and Dolores Oliveira. He had been the Owner of Whaling City Lawn Maintenance Landscaping Company for over 40 years.
Along with spending time with his family, he enjoyed watching soccer, traveling to North Conway, NH, and cooking special meals for his family. He was most proud of being "Papa" to his 5 grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Oliveira; his loving daughters, Stacey Duquette and her husband Eric, Sara Robert and her husband Daniel. His 5 grandchildren, Benjamin Duquette, Madelyn Duquette, Nathan Robert, Nicholas Robert, and Nora Robert. His sisters Grace Hall and her husband Terry, Margaret DeBarros and her husband Paul, and Zinalia Oliveira. Also, he is survived by his sister-in-laws Robin Simpkin, and Joy Medeiros, and her husband Jim Medeiros, and Andrew Medeiros of Dartmouth, who he loved like a son. He also leaves his aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to https://shop.alivingtribute.org/products/new-england may be made to plant trees in his memory. *Please specify planting in the White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire, which was his home away from home.
Joe's visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 11, at Perry Funeral Home from 8:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish at 11:00 A.M. Burial of his cremains will be Private. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
