John Fernandes Santos

New Bedford, MA – John F. Santos, age 91, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Beverly (Arruda) Santos, they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in October. 

John was born in was born in Monsanto, Portugal to the late Faustino and Maria C. Santos. He worked as a laborer for Loranger Corp. Local 385 for many years. John loved his family, from helping his grandsons Raymond and Kevin with their paper route to learning to drive, watching all their baseball and soccer games all the way to band competitions, which included the Tournament of Roses in 1996. Then the indoor procession competition, including drum corp, that he attended all the way out to Madison, Wisconsin, where he watched his grandson, Raymond. 

He also attended his great-grandsons, Christian and Ethan’s baseball and soccer games, including a number of tournaments. He loved taking care of his 24 brand new cars and listening to the chairman himself Frank Sinatra. He was a loyal New York Yankee fan inside and out. His family was his whole life and they loved him for it.

John is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; his daughter, Donna Lee Medeiros and her husband Raymond M.; 2 grandchildren, Raymond M. Medeiros Jr.and his wife Angela and Kevin Mathew Medeiros; 2 great-grandsons, Christian M. Medeiros and Ethan Tyler Medeiros as well as his 1 sister, Maria Cadete. 

He was also the brother of the late Lidia Santos and Ernest Santos Zeberia.

John’s service will take place on Tuesday August 13 from 10:30 A.M. -12, followed by burial at St Johns Cemetery.
