New Bedford – It was on November 15, 2024 that God called our dear brother João Manuel Raposo Botelho, for his Holy Kingdom, at 78 years of age. He was the beloved husband of Evangelina de Encarnação Melo Ferreira Botelho of New Bedford.
Born in Furnas, Sao Miguel, Azores to the late João Botelho and Maria Dos Santos (Raposo) Botelho. He worked as a baker, until he was old enough to serve in the military, where he rose to First Corporal. After his military service, he dated and married his beloved, Evangelina de Encarnação Melo Ferreira Botelho. He immigrated with his wife from his homeland to the United States where together they had raised their children.
He worked for over 20 years at “CLIFTEX”, and also with his gardening business. After closing, he worked for J.F. White Construction, where he retired. His best joy was spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
Joao is survived by his wife, Evangelina Botelho, his daughter, Anamaria Botelho Rego and her husband Jose Antonio Viveiros Rego; his son, Michael Ferreira Botelho and his wife Nancy Medeiros Botelho; his grandchildren, Marriah Krystyne Dugan, Jose’ Antonio Viveiros Regô Jr., Evalina Rose Botelho, Xzavian Michael Botelho, Alexis Jasmine Medeiros, and Timothy Jacob Thomas Alexander. his siblings, Deodate Tavares and his wife Ester Tavares, Fatima Amaral and her husband Joao Amaral, Carlos Botelho and his wife Arlete Botelho and Eduarda Nunes and her husband Armenio Nunes as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose David Botelho and Teresa (Botelho) Tavares.
His siblings Teresa (Botelho) Tavares and Jose’ David Botelho. May God keep your soul in his Holy Kingdom.
His visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place on Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
