Jeffrey J. Gonsalves

Jeffrey J. Gonsalves, aged 73, passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2024, in New Bedford, MA. Born on February 22, 1951, Jeffrey was a lifelong resident of the area and a respected businessman in the community.

After graduating from Voc Tech in 1971, Jeffrey embarked on a successful career in the automotive industry. In 1978, he founded JC Auto Sales & Repair Inc., which he owned and operated until his passing. His passion for cars extended beyond his professional life; he was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed riding motorcycles, often accompanied by his characteristic sarcasm, bringing laughter and joy to those around him with his favorite line " I am grand fathered in" 

Jeffrey is survived by his loving family, including his brother Victor Gonsalves, daughter Heidi Gonsalves, son Jeffrey J. Gonsalves II, grandsons Devyn Gonsalves and Tre'Sean DeSousa, granddaughters Nevaeh Gonsalves and Jayela Gonsalves, and great-granddaughters Serenity Cote, Rayne Gonsalves, and Salem Gonsalves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Victor Gonsalves.

A memorial visitation will be held to honor Jeffrey's life on November 11, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Perry Funeral Home of New Bedford, a Catholic prayer service will follow at 4:00 PM inside of the Perry Funeral Home. His legacy of humor, dedication to his craft, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him. Jeffrey's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have known him.
