New Bedford – Gabriela Gaudencio Furtado, age 79, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Hermano J. Furtado and loving mother of Sandra and Lisa.
Gabriela was born in Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores and was the daughter of the late Joao Gaudencio and Maria (Freitas) Gaudencio. She had been a loving and attentive homemaker to her family over the years.
She was a kind, caring and giving person, who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Gabriela was a source of inspiration to all, and she will be deeply missed by everyone, who knew her and whose lives she touched in one way or another.
Gabriela loved gardening, playing with Whiskey (the family dog), getting manicures, watching Wrestling and had a sweet tooth for peanut butter cups. Most of all, her favorite past time was spending time with her husband and daughters.
Gabriela was always there for her family and if anyone needed help, she would, without hesitation, provide a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on. She was a woman of strong faith and had instilled in her girls, the importance of family values, hard work and always doing the right thing. Gabriela was a true role model, and she will always be remembered and thought of with an enormous amount of respect and admiration by her family.
To Our Mother, “You will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you. We love you so much. Rest in peace”.
Gabriela is survived by her beloved husband, Hermano J. Furtado; her loving daughters, Sandra Cahill and her husband Jeffrey and Lisa Furtado. As well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her late siblings, Miguel Gaudencio, Jordalina Goncalves, Joao Gaudencio, Eduarda Gaudencio, Maria Soares, Americo Gaudencio.
Gabriela’s visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place Tuesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA.
