Emilia (Branco) Azevedo

New Bedford – Emilia (Branco) Azevedo, age 106, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Sacred Heart Home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Azevedo. 

Emilia was born in Faial, Açores to the late Maria Ernestina (Avila) Branco and Vital Branco. She had worked in the garment industry for many years as a dress maker. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

Emilia is survived by her children, Emilio Azevedo and his wife Maria Lucia Azevedo, Antonio Azevedo and his wife Sharon Azevedo, Maria Elisa Martin and her husband Noel Martin and Frank Azevedo. Her grandchildren, Michael Azevedo and his partner Jen Weise, Cathy Mason and her husband John Mason, Christopher Azevedo and his wife Anabela Azevedo, Mark Martin and his wife Esra Martin ,Matthew Martin, Jennifer Azevedo and her husband James Maloney, Matthew Azevedo and wife Kit Azevedo, James Azevedo and wife Hitomi, Laura Azevedo, step-grandchildren, Heather Sivil and her husband Shawn Sivil, Michelle Souza and her husband Jeff Souza; great-grandchildren, Ilene Martin, Alex Martin, Alyssa Rosas and husband Juan Rosas, Johnny Mason, Aislin Maloney, Reed Azevedo, Coral Azevedo and husband Jacob McConnell and Runa Azevedo; her step great-grandchildren, Evan Souza, Madelyn and Marion Sivil; her sister, Ema Ruivo of Portugal; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Emilia’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can kindly be made in Emilia’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
