New Bedford – Ellery E. Healy, age 87, of Westport, MA passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Nancy A. (Costa) Healy, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born in Dartmouth, MA he was the beloved son of the late Frank F. Healy and Alice (Bouchard) Healy.
Ellery had been a Union Carpenter for Sullivan-Foster and Paul Cleary Construction Companies where he was known to his fellow colleagues as “Slim”. Many local structures like banks, hospitals, colleges and his home all bear the mark of his precision, patience, and passion for the craft of carpentry.
Ellery took great pride in his home and loved to work on home projects and spend time outdoors alongside those he loved. He was the jack of all trades and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, especially his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy A. Healy; his daughter, Lisa A. Porto and her husband Victor Porto; his son, Michael Healy; granddaughter, Amanda Ferreira and her husband Jesse Ferreira; grandson, Chase Healy; as well as his 3 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Weston and Walker Ferreira.
Private funeral arrangements are entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
