Our beloved Mother Elizabeth “Bettie” Davis passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024. She is loved greatly and will be missed by many.
She was a very loving and caring person. Her big heart touched many lives and was cherished by many over the years.
She was an amazing, inspiring women, who loved her family a great deal. Family meant the world to her. She even considered some very special people as her own family. She was known to be a very strong women, this strength will be carried on by her children. She lived her life with a positive attitude and always made the best of things no matter the circumstances.
She graduated from Middletown High School 1965 and pursued a degree in business. She was a secretary at the Newport Navy Exchange. Then for many years was an office manager and bookkeeper, which led her down the path of becoming a business owner. She took great pride in herself for owning and operating the Video Corner, a well-known video store in Whitman, MA. Her small business provided a sense of community and belonging in the small town and is still highly spoken of to this day.
She retired from the store, making time for her passion for plants, crocheting, cooking along with many other hobbies. She loved the card game rummy and won most of the time.
She enjoyed gatherings with family and friends and time with her cats that she loved a great deal. Bettie also loved nature, especially birds and wild animals.
Preceded in death by her mother, Lottie Alma Murphy (Bomba) and father, William Henry Murphy; as well as her brother. Bettie is survived by her three devoted children Rebecca Martins, Jonathan Martins, and his wife Christina and Partick Barry, and his longtime partner Amy.
She was an amazing Mimi to her three beloved grandchildren Brianna, Jacob and Daniel. She also leaves behind two sisters Patricia Thompson, and her husband Rick and Barbara Harris. In addition, two very special friends of the family Andrea Andoscia and Sheila Avery.
Family and friends are invited for visiting hours on Thursday September 12th at Perry Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and followed by a service to begin at 6:00 P.M. The burial will be a private ceremony to remember Elizabeth “Bettie” in the presence of close family and friends.
