Elisa Maria Pereira

New Bedford – Elisa Maria (Luis) Pereira, age 84, of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Antonio S. Pereira, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and together with her husband she created a beautiful family.

Elisa was born in Conceicao, Horta, Faial Azores and was the daughter of the late Antonio Pereira Luis and Maria do Conceicao (Da Silva) Luis. She came to this country in 1959 where she had worked as an assembler for Aerovox for 17 years and also worked as a stitcher for Paul Modes for 15 years.

Elisa was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family very much and took pride in spending time with her children and grandchildren always attending their many activities. For many years Elisa enjoyed going out with her husband to local restaurants and Portuguese clubs for dinner, dancing and spending time with family and friends.

Elisa is survived by her loving husband, Antonio S. Pereira; her children, Paul G. Pereira and his wife Tracey Ann of Dartmouth and Lisette Maria De Melo and her husband Tony of Dartmouth; her grandchildren Christopher Pereira, Jacob Cidade, Zachary Pereira, Felicia Cidade, and Lucas Demelo; her step grandchildren Brennan Demelo and Olivia Demelo; her sisters Georgina Reis and husband John of Florida, Lina Amaral and late husband José of Dartmouth, Rose Rocha and husband Manuel, Maria Pereira and husband Manuel all of Florida, Hortense Magerowski and husband Rich from Grafton, Massachusetts; she also leaves behind several nieces and nephews along with several great nieces and nephews.

Elisa’s visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Tuesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
