Eileen Peters

March 5, 1953 — June 2, 2024

New Bedford

New Bedford, MA – Eileen P. (Lagoa) Peters, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital with her loving family by her side on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the age of 71 years young. Despite her brave fight against leukemia, she ultimately lost her battle, but her spirit lives on.

She was the loving wife of Roderick L. Peters and dog mom to her beloved Yorkie Holi.

Born in New Bedford MA in 1953, she was the youngest daughter of the late Evaristo Lagoa and Maria (Dias) Lagoa.

Prior to moving back to New Bedford in early 2017, she lived in Wellington Fl for 41 years.  Eileen was a very accomplished hairstylist, and then later switched careers where she would eventually retire as a manager from various jewish delicatessens.  Eileen was a loving, caring and generous woman who will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and those whose lives she touched.  She was a shining example of selflessness and compassion, always putting others before herself with her door open and a cup of coffee brewing.  She was always available to give advice or just sit and listen, never expecting anything in return.  In her free time, Eileen enjoyed visiting with family and friends, finding deals on QVC, and catching up on her favorite shows on Netflix.  Her family was her world and she watched over them with a fierce love.  She may be gone, but her love and legacy will never fade.

In addition to her husband, Roderick L. Peters; Eileen is survived by her sister, Mary Ouimet; sister-in-law, Marianne Boyer; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved Yorkie, Holi.

She was predeceased by her late siblings, Rev. Raul Lagoa, Charles Lagoa, and Teresa Gifford and her late brother-in-law, Dr. Edward Peters.
