Edmund M. Tavares

New Bedford – Edmund M. Tavares, age 95, of New Bedford and Fairhaven Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Sacred Heart Home of New Bedford, where he contentedly resided for over two years. He was the husband of the late Olga V. (Violante) Tavares.

Edmund was born in Terceira, Azores. A son of the late Manuel M Tavares and Etelvina (Goncalves) Tavares. He was also the brother of the late Edwin M Tavares.

Edmund retired from New Bedford High School after a long career as a beloved Teacher.He was equally beloved and respected by generations of Scouts, through his lifelong relationship with Scouting, and his infinite passion for Camp Cachalot.
