Christopher Townsend

Maine – Christopher G. Townsend III, age 77, of Florida passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Maine Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Christine (Davis) Townsend.

Christopher was born in New Bedford, MA and was the son of the late Christopher G. Townsend II and Rita (Fitzgerald) Townsend. Christopher had served in the United States Navy and later went on to become an attorney for the Law Firm of Mary Hart and later for a law firm in Washington D.C.

He had been an avid golfer and loved to watch football especially, the Washington Redskins, whom had been his favorite team. He had a great interest in Egypt and had spent a lot of time traveling the world.

Christopher is survived by his 2 children, Christopher G. Townsend IV and his wife Karen Townsend and Jessica Townsend and her husband Sam Thurston; 1 grandchild, Christine Townsend; 3 step-grandchildren, Seth Scalio, Percy and Elle Thurston; his siblings, Karen Townsend, Scott Townsend and Russell Townsend; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his late brother, Peter Townsend.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 between 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
