Arlindo Da Silva Costeira

New Bedford – Arlindo Da Silva Costeira, age 83, of New Bedford passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria Jose (Pinho da Cunha) Costeira, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.

Arlindo was born in Sao Jacinto, Aveiro, Portugal and was the beloved son of the late Manuel Joaquim Costeira and Maria Do Carmo (Da Silva) Costeira. He moved to the New Bedford area 46 years ago and worked as a fisherman all of his life, up until he retired. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Arlindo is survived by his wife, Maria Jose Costeira; children, Arlindo Costeria and wife Aurea of New Bedford, Antonio Costeira and wife Celeste of Acushnet, Joaquim Costeira and wife Lucy of Fairhaven, Manuel Costeira and wife Lurdes of New Bedford, Lazaro Costeira and wife Sandy of New Bedford and Fatima Ozdogru and husband Sertac of Fairhaven; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Manuel Costeira of New York, Celina Costeira Ferreira, Maria Jose Castro and Ildebrando Costeira, all of Portugal; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his late siblings, Rosaria Oliveira, Joao Costela, Antonio Costeira and Alzira Cruz.

Arlindo’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
