Antonio J. Linhares

Fall River – Antonio J. Linhares, age 79, of Dartmouth, MA passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Odette M. (Melo) Linhares. 

Antonio was born in Ribeira Quente, Sao Miguel, Azores to the late Antonio S. Linhares and Filomena A. (Viera) Linhares. At the age of 5, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he lived for 27 years. He moved to Toronto and finally settled down here in this area in 1981. Antonio had worked as a scalloper over the years for the Elizabeth & Niki Fishing Vessel. He loved soccer, was a passionate Porto fan and loved and adored his grandchildren.

Antonio is survived by his wife, Odette M. Linhares; his 3 sons, Jerry T. Linhares and his wife Laurie G. Linhares, Bryan M. Linhares and his wife Tanya C. Linhares and Jameson Linhares and his fiancé Paula Lima; 2 grandchildren, Brady Anderson Linhares and Layla Olivia Linhares; his sister, Leonice Costa and her husband Eduino Costa; brother-in-law, Jose Gafanhato; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his late siblings, the late Genoveva Gafanhato and the late Manuel F. Linhares.

Antonio’s visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
