Antonio M. Borges

He was the husband of Tina (Etelvina) Costa Borges. Born in Cova Figueira da Foz, Portugal. He was the son of the late Antonio Borges, and Encarnacao Cordeiro Borges, and the brother of the late Maria Joao Pimentel.

Antonio (Tony) was a loving husband, father, Vovo, and friend. Spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren brought him the greatest joy. He was loved by many as he left a part of himself with everyone he touched.

He immigrated with his father to the U.S. at the age of 16 and graduated from NBHS. He attended and graduated from West Virginia University earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering while playing his beloved sport of soccer for his college team.

He began his long career at Thompson Consulting Engineers in Marion, MA, and continued part time on a consulting basis after his retirement. He was one of the co-founders of the New Bedford Youth Soccer Association, and loved coaching his children, and the youth of New Bedford.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing soccer, tennis, hiking, being by the ocean, fishing, playing with his grandchildren, go on family vacations, and traveling the world with his wife.

He is survived by his wife Tina C. Borges, son Andrew J Borges, and wife Carla, daughter Raquel S Vieira, and husband Michael. His grandchildren Nole, Myles, and Emma, his nephew Ruben, many cousins, and good friends.

Antonio’s visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Perry Funeral Home. Visiting hours will take place from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. with a service to be held at 12:00 P.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

A Celebration of Tony's Life will be held at a later date.
