Anabela D. Garcia

New Bedford – Anabela D. Garcia, age 52, of New Bedford, MA passed away after losing her short battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Fall River Healthcare surrounded by her loving family.

Anabela was born in Aveiro, Portugal and was the beloved daughter of Eulalia Goncalves. She had been a day care teacher at Stepping Stones Child Care for many years and was affectionately known as “Miss Ana” to all her “kids”, whom she always considered and called each and every one of them, her “best friend” and always made sure they  knew she loved them.  Ana also worked part-time as a bartender at Senhor da Pedra. She truly was the most selfless person, never missed a graduation, holiday, birthday party, or sports game. She was always there to help you when you needed it. Anabela enjoyed having conversations with everyone and fishing off the dock was her “happy place”.

She is survived by her mother, Eulalia Goncalves; her 3 children, Tiffany Rosa, Felicia Maciel and Nicholas Normandin; siblings, Isabel Ferreira and her husband Mario and Carmen Costa and her husband Darren; nieces and nephews, Carina, Catia, Kyle, Macy, Chloe and great-nephew Parker; as well as her boyfriend, Zebby Oliveira.

Anabela’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place on Friday, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Catholic Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
