Alexander Cura Perez

June 8, 2002 – December 3, 2024

Alexander Cura Perez, age 22, of New Bedford, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at his home.

Born on June 8, 2002, in New Bedford, Alexander was the beloved son of Patricia (Cura) Perez and Alexander Perez. He was a proud 2020 graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, where he excelled in the carpentry shop. During his time at GNBVT, he participated in various co-op opportunities, demonstrating his talent and dedication to his craft.

Alexander spent several years working at the Market Basket Bakery in New Bedford, MA, where he built strong connections and a reputation for his friendly and hardworking demeanor. Most recently, he found fulfillment as an Engineering Technician at Leidos in Newport, Rhode Island, where he continued to apply his skills and determination.

Alexander’s life was a testament to courage and resilience. Despite facing numerous medical challenges in his youth, he fought bravely through every battle with grace and determination. His strength inspired everyone around him, and he never allowed those struggles to dim his spirit or love for life.

Known for his vibrant energy and kind heart, Alexander had an innate ability to bring joy to those around him, never missing an opportunity to greet a friend with a hug or share a smile. As a devoted son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and uncle, he cherished his family deeply. He was a family man who spent most of his free time with loved ones who will hold his memory in their hearts for eternity.

An avid sports enthusiast, Alexander had a lifelong love for baseball, which he played throughout his youth. Recently, he embraced the role of assistant coach for his little sister’s softball team, volunteering alongside his father. Coaching brought him immense pride as he shared his knowledge and love of the game with the next generation of athletes who became like family to him.

Beyond sports and quality time with family, Alexander had a passion for fitness, video games, and caring for his immaculate Honda. His pure heart and old soul left an indelible impression on everyone he met, and his openness to life’s questions made him a cherished confidant.

Alexander’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones. He is survived by his devoted parents, Patricia and Alexander; his siblings, Leah Cura Perez, Jordan Cura Perez, and Alyssa Oliveira; his brother-in-law, Alex Oliveira; his maternal grandfather, Joao R. Cura; his paternal grandparents, Ana Perez and Rogelio Sanchez; his aunts and uncles, Elizabeth and John, Monica and Trevor, Lisette, Melissa, and Tahina; his cousins, Gisele, Dominic, Devyn, Madelin, Luis, and Shane; and his nephews, Jayce, Chevy, and Harley. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Jeter, who was his loyal companion.

Alexander was also the grandson of the late Maria Irene Cura, who passed in August 2023 and whose memory he held near and dear to his heart. While his passing leaves an immeasurable void, it comforts us to know that his grandmother was there to greet him with open arms.

Alexander’s loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his loving nature, unwavering positivity, and the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.

“Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean we’ll miss you, until we meet again.”
