Fairhaven-Albertina Duarte Goncalves DaSilva was born on June 18, 1930, in Setubal, Portugal. She peacefully passed away on October 7, 2023, at Alden Court of Fairhaven, at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jose Maria DaSilva.
Throughout her lifetime, Albertina exemplified unwavering strength, kindness, and resilience. She embraced life's challenges with grace, demonstrating an incredibly strong spirit that inspired all who knew her. Albertina had a deep love for her family, and her devotion was boundless. Her home was a place of warmth and love, where she created cherished memories for generations to come.
Albertina was known for her love of cooking, particularly her mastery of preparing delicious Portuguese soups that warmed the hearts and stomachs of all who tasted them. Her culinary talents were a source of joy and comfort for her family and friends. She found immense pleasure in tending to her garden, where she nurtured an array of vibrant flowers. Her garden was a reflection of her love for life's beauty and a testament to her nurturing spirit. In addition to her hobbies, Albertina was a devout Catholic, and her faith was an integral part of her life, with a special connection to Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Albertina is survived by her loving family, including her children: Jose Silva and his partner Melissa Robinson, Maria Marshall and her husband Richard Marshall, Luizette Aubut and her husband David Aubut, and her daughter, Yvette DaSilva. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Stephanie Marshall, Kimberly Aubut, Michelle Aubut, Nicole Cuff and her husband Robert Cuff, Lisa Aubut, Jared Silva, Cory DaSilva, and her great-grandchildren: Kobe, Jayda, Alina, and Emy.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jose Maria DaSilva.
Visitation to celebrate Albertina's life will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects during this time.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, October 16, 2023, beginning at Perry Funeral Home at 9 A.M. and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 10:00 A.M., located at 230 Bonney St. Interment will be held privately for immediate family members only.
In memory of Albertina and to honor her battle with Alzheimer's disease, the family kindly requests that donations be made towards ending Alzheimer's. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, an organization dedicated to research and support for those affected by Alzheimer's disease.
Albertina's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit will live on in our hearts, a lasting reminder of her love, strength, and devotion.
