Agostinho J. DoRego

Boston – Agostinho Joao DoRego (Gus) died at Mass General Hospital on November 3, 2024 after a brief illness.

Born in Praia da Vitoria, Terceira, Azores, he emigrated to the United States in 1969 and settled in New Bedford, Ma. for most of his life.

He was the beloved son of the late Artur B. DoRego and Maria I. DoRego. He served honorably in the Portuguese military, during the Colonial Wars.

He is survived by a son, Steven DoRego, several cousins and his dearest companion, Clarinda M. Mello, her two sons Nicholas and Ian Mello, her daughter-in-law Justine and her 3 loving grandchildren, Rowan, River and Maxwell whom adoringly called him, "uncle Gus".

Agostinho was loved and respected by many, especially those closest to him and will be dearly missed.
