Jose Manuel Martins

New Bedford-Jose Martins age 72 years died August 11th at home with his loved one present. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Joana (Remedios) Martins. He was the loved father of Manuel G. Martins of New Bedford, Ana Branco of Dartmouth and Maria dos Anjos Lapointe of New Bedford. He was the loving grandfather of Ashley Branco, Courtney Martins, Nicole Branco, Mackenzie Martins, Felicity Lapointe and Corbynn Laspointe. Jose was the brother of Refina, Manuel, Joao, Armando, Lurdes, Virginio, Lucia, Ana and David. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Martins was a son of the late Virginio and Maria dos Anjos (Craveiro) Martins. He was born in São Miguel, Açores and has lived here since 1977. He was a manager at Fragosa Linguica Company until his retirement. He also worked as a landscaper.

Mr. Martins’ Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Monday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Saint John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 5-8 P.M.
