Maria (Farias) Goosby

Dartmouth – Maria Goosby, age 90 years, died Tuesday August 9, 2011 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Ma. Maria was the beloved wife of the late George Francis Goosby; they were happily married for over 40 years. She was the loving mother of Rose Marie Simpkin and her husband Donald of Dartmouth and Jeffrey F. Goosby and his girlfriend Jen of Washington, grandmother of Rebecca Souza and Alisha Simpkin and great grandmother of Aaliyah Borges. Maria is the sister of Frank Farias of Fall River and the late Irene Botelho, Ethel, Manuel and George Farias. She was the sister-in-law of Olive Farias of Somerset. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Goosby was a daughter of the late Guilherminia (Ponte) and Frank Farias. She was born in Fall River and has lived in Dartmouth since 1975. She was a homemaker. Maria was a loving wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother.

Mrs. Goosby’s funeral will be Saturday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass to be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Cedar Knoll Cemetery Taunton MA.in the Garden of Valor section. Visiting hours are Friday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
