Jose P. Da Silva

New Bedford - Jose P. Da Silva, aged 74 years, died unexpectedly August 2, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria Fatima (Pinto) Da Silva of New Bedford. He was the loved father of Jose P. Da Silva of Martha’s Vineyard, Helena Silva Marques of Acushnet, Jose A. Da Silva, Manuel R. Da Silva and Ana Padelford all of New Bedford, Edgar P. Da Silva of Berkley MA. and Jose L. “Zeca” Da Silva of Dartmouth. Jose was the brother of Acinda Sousa of South Africa, Jose Orlando Da Silva of France, Maria L. Freitas of FL., Maria Dorita Freitas of Fairhaven Maria Gorete Freitas of Dartmouth, Jose L. Da Silva of New Bedford, Jose P. Da Silva of Acushnet and Maria Rosaria Figueira of Dartmouth. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Da Silva was a son of the late Jose Baptista Da Silva and Maria Gabriela (Correia) Da Silva. Jose was born in Madeira, Portugal, moved here in 1969 and has lived in this area since. Mr. Da Silva formerly worked as a foreman at Chamberlain Mfg. He was a former member of the Madeira Club and Central Luzo Club.

Mr. Da Silva’s funeral will be Saturday at 6:45A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church New Bedford at 8 A.M. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery# 2. Visiting hours will be Friday from 6 - 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
