Dartmouth – Richard A. “Pep” Pollitt, age 80 years, died unexpectedly Saturday, July, 23, 2011 at home. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn J. (Duarte) Pollitt . Loved father of William Ashworth and his wife Atty. Donna Sowa-Ashworth of Fairhaven and the late Thomas J. Pollitt Sr. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Thomas J. Pollitt Jr., William Duncan Pollitt Ashworth, Ashley Johnson, Mackenzie Rappa Pollitt, Trevor T. Pollitt and Kailey Pollitt, as well as two great grandchildren Arieanah and Arell. He also has several nieces and nephews and was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters. He also leaves Leo Ledoux who he thought of as a son.
Mr. Pollitt was a son of the late Thomas and Marion (Farland) Pollitt. Richard was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all his life. He was formerly employed as a plumber with Billington Plumbing for over 40 years. Mr. Pollitt enjoyed fishing, was an avid homing pidgeon fancier and enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Mr. Pollitt’s funeral will be Wednesday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 10:30 A.M.. Services will begin at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at the Rural Cemetery Visiting Hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
