Maria C. Tavares

New Bedford,-Maria C. Tavares age 81 years died June 28th at home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Alberto Raposo Tavares of New Bedford. Loved mother of Joseph Tavares and his wife Kathy of Wareham, Filomena Yuille and her Husband Mark of Acushnet, Roy Tavares and his wife Jackie of Plymouth, Manuela Tavares of New Bedford and Michael Tavares of Boston, Loved Sister of Liduina Furtado, Zenaida DaEstrela, Otilia Martines, and Manuel Pacheco. She is also survived by Grandchildren Stephanie Tavares Desrosiers, Michelle Yuille, Kristen Tavares, Keith Tavares and Paige Tavares, Great-Grandchildren Makenzie Blier, Chloe Desrosiers, and Juliette Sousa and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tavares was the daughter of the late Maria Estrella Moniz (Torres) and Manuel Pacheco dePonte. She was born in Achadinha, St. Michael, Azores and moved here in 1967 and has lived in this area since. Mrs Tavares formerly worked as a Seamstress at Riverside Manufacturer.

Mrs Tavares funeral will be Friday at 8:45A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church New Bedford at 10 A.M. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 6-9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
