0New Bedford – Maria M.C. Lopes , age 55, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at St. Lukes Hospital unexpectedly. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Carlos Lopes. She was the loved mother of Sandra Lopes and her husband Cesar DeOliveira of New Bedford, Paul Lopes and his wife Tori of Fall River, and Jennifer Brum and her husband Gary of New Bedford. Grandchildren Vanessa DaSilva, Destiny DaSilva, Gary Brum Jr, Orlando Simas Jr., Paul Lopes Jr., Devin Brum, Savanah Lopes, London Brum and the late Cassy Lopes, great grandchild Nelson Rodrigues, Cesar DeOliveira Jr. and Makayla DeOliveira, she was the sister of Sarah Silva of Fall River, Fatima Amaral of New Bedford, Jose Amaral of New Bedford, Ana Amaral of New Bedford, Lidia Amaral and Alfredo Amaral both of Fall River, and Natalia Conley of Virginia, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lopes was a daughter of the late Lidia (Camara) and Jose DeJesus Amaral. She was born in Terceira, Azores.

Mrs. Lopes funeral will be on Friday from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
