Mary (Bettencourt) Sarmento

New Bedford – Mary (Bettencourt) Sarmento, age 100 years, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. Mrs. Sarmento was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Sarmento of N. Dartmouth. She was the sister of Clarence Bettencourt of Conn., Arthur V. Bettencourt of N. Dartmouth, Ernest V. Bettencourt of Wisconson and the late Joseph V. and Walter V. Bettencourt. Mrs. Sarmento is also survived by two nieces and four nephews.

Mrs. Sarmento was a daughter of the late Annie (Mello) and Joseph V. Bettencourt. She was born in Tracy, CA and has lived in this area most of her life.

Mrs. Sarmento’s funeral will be Friday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St.Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
