Eliza M. "Betty" Dagesse

Newport, RI- Eliza “Betty” M. Dagesse age 80 years, died Wednesday March 30,th at Village House Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis J. Dagesse. She was the loved mother of Lisa M. Mailloux and her husband David of Portsmouth RI. and Dean L. Dagesse and his wife Tracy of Tiverton, RI. Eliza was the loving grandmother of Lauren, Victoria, Luke Mailloux, Camron, Julia and Callie Dagesse. She was the sister of Linda Greene of Virginia Beach, VA., Antonio Gonsalves of South Dartmouth, John Gonsalves of New Bedford and the late Avelino Gonsalves, Henry Gonsalves, Gilbert Gonsalves, Joseph Gonsalves, Mary Oliveira, and Olivia Mello. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dagesse was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Abreau) Gonsalves. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area until moving to Tiverton, RI. For 32 years. She then retired to Daytona Beach, FL in 1995. She worked for the Acushnet Company in New Bedford, Ma and then as a lunch aid with the Town of Tiverton School Department for `15 years before retiring in 1995.

Mrs. Dagesse’s funeral will be from Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Monday at 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St John the Baptist Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 5-8 P.M.
