Raul Velez Sr

New Bedford - Raul Velez Sr. age 67, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at Hathaway Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. He was the husband of Laura (Gonzalez) Velez of New Bedford. Mr. Velez was the father of Raul Jr., David and Evelyn Velez all of New Bedford. Raul was the brother of Federico Aponte and Madeline Aponte both of New York and Vidal Pagan Velez of New Bedford. He also leaves behind 6 grand children and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Velez was a son of the late Hipolito and Cecilia (Pagan) Velez. He was born in Puerto Rico and has lived in this area for 35 years. He was a machine operator for a cranberry company.

Mr. Velez’ funeral arrangements are by the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. visiting hours are Tuesday Evening from 6 – 8 P.M. with services to be held during the visiting hours. According to his wishes he will be cremated. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
