William Rodrigues

New Bedford – William Rodrigues, age 83 years, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at St Lukes Hospital. Mr. Rodrigues was the husband of the late Arlene E. (Souza) Rodrigues of Acusnet and father of Karen M., wife of George Thomas of Rochester and Kathleen M., wife of Steven Hardy of Fairhaven. He was the grandfather of Gregory M. Hardy and brother of the late Antone, George, Manuel and John Rodrigues, Matilda Rapoza and Josephine Martins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rodrigues was a son of the late Mary (Jesus) and Justino Rodrigues. He was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all his life. Mr. Rodrigues was employed as a department foreman at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He was a member of the Goodyear Senior Citizens, the Hawthorn Country Club and the Andrew Dahill VFW Post #1531. Mr. Rodrigues was the president of the Hot League at Hawthorn Country Club. He was a US. Navy Veteran of WWII

Mr. Rodrigues’ Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Acushnet, Wednesday at 10 A.M. Burial will be private. Visiting hours have been omited. Relatives and friends are invited to meet directly at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
