Mary C. Mello

New Bedford-Mary C. (Costa) Mello, 82, of New Bedford, died Thursday January 8, 2004, at St. Luke’s Hospital, She was the wife of John F. Mello, and the widow of Gilbert Almeida. She was the mother of Shirley Arsenault, of New Bedford, Gilbert J. Almeida of North Providence, RI., Michael Almeida of South Dartmouth, Patricia Fredette, of New Bedford, Linda A. Roncka of Westport, and the mother of the late Raymond Almeida. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and a niece Lena Xavier of South Dartmouth who she treated like a daughter. She was the sister of the late Lena Ponte.

She was born in New Bedford daughter of the late Manuel and Maria I.(Silva)Costa. She worked in the Goodyear as a packer.

The funeral will be Monday January 12, 2004, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Rivet St. New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours will be Sunday January 11, 2004 from 4-8 P.M.
