Maria Rosa Zangao

New Bedford- Maria Rosa Zangao, age 85, died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Alden Court Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio O. Zangao. Maria was the loved mother of Rosa Lopes and her husband Manuel, Zelia Sarmento, Teresa Vieira and her longtime companion Jim Sturtevant, Grace Botelho and her husband Martin, Raul Oliveira and his wife Margarida, Joe-Frank Zangao and his wife Lionelia, Antonio Oliveira and his wife Leonor, Eduardo Oliveira and his wife Frances, David Zangao and his wife Fernanda, and John Zangao all of New Bedford. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Maria was the mother of the late Olinda Manteiga.

Mrs. Zangao was the daughter of the late Gloria (Costa) and Jacinto Mantives. She was born in St Michael, Azores and lived in this are since 1968. She was a trimmer at Kylers Seafood for 20 years until her retirement.

Mrs. Zangao Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Wednesday at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
