John P. Rodrigues Sr.

New Bedford-John P. Rodrigues Sr. age 70, died Saturday February 5th at home . He is survived by long time companion/wife Cecile Gomes of New Bedford. His daughter Rachael Oliveira and her husband Mark Sr. of Westport, Scott Robertson and his wife Maria of Saugus, Lisa Deree of New Bedford, Michelle Mota of New Bedford and John P. Rodrigues Jr.,husband of Nazareth, of New Bedford, his stepdaughter Lisa Gomes and stepson Norman Gomes, grandchildren Mark Oliveira Jr. Jon Oliveira, Scott Robertson Jr., Victoria Robertson, Gaylynne DosSantos, Crystal Gomes, Cynthia Gomes and Joshua Gomes, great grandchildren Madyson Oliveira and Alyiah DosSantos. He was the brother of Alvarino Rodrigues of FL. and the late Natalie Medeiros, Eliza Carreiro and Jose Rodrigues. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rodrigues was a son of the late Maria Da Gloria (Cassis) and Joao Machado Rodrigues. He was born in Terceira, Azores and lived in this area since around 1958. He worked in construction and was also a bartender. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards with friends, fishing and eating his favorite food lobster. Rachael was her Dad’s primary care giver along with her mother.

Mr. Rodrigues’ funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Thursday at 9:15 A.M.. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be Wednesday evening from 5-8 P.M.
